While Wall Street traditionally didn’t have many women working in roles, it is due to people like Ms. Bartels’ aunt, Bernadette Bartels Murphy, who made careers more accessible and alluring to women. Ms. Bartels cites her aunt as her biggest career inspiration. Ms. Bartels followed in her footsteps and prepared for her career at Fordham University, earning a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in economics. Her hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed and between 2001 to 2006, Ms. Bartels was listed in the Institutional Investor All-American Team. As a testament to her vast industry knowledge, she appears on CNBC, Bloomberg and Fox Business and is often quoted in various publications including the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Barron’s.
